Minutes of the ASAA Business Meeting
President Kinko Ito called to order the 38th annual business meeting of the Arkansas Sociological and Anthropological Society at 4:00 p.m., November 7, 2008 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Conway, Arkansas.
The first order of business was the election of ASAA officers for 2009. Through the deeply democratic process of consensus building, Allison Vetter assumed the position of Vice-President Elect. It was also determined that Dr. Vetter would continue to serve as the editor of the ASAA’s newsletter the Spectrum. Along with his duties as ASAA secretary, Douglas George was appointed treasurer, replacing John King, current President elect.
We briefly discussed potential locations for the Spring 2009 undergraduate symposium. Members of the UCA department volunteered to host the symposium, and a date late in April was proposed. We also discussed next year’s conference and tentatively set the meeting date as the first Friday in November. Each date would be confirmed later and notification sent to the membership.
No other business was brought before the group and the meeting was adjourned.
